Speaking on the state of tennis development in the country, Ochei expressed concern over the shortage of quality facilities available for young players to train and develop their skills.

“Infrastructure and funding remain our biggest challenges,” Ochei said.

According to the NTF president, many states and local government areas lack the basic tennis facilities required to discover and nurture future stars.

“The shortage of courts and facilities is limiting talent development,” he implied.

Ochei stressed that the absence of proper infrastructure continues to make it difficult for talented youngsters to access opportunities within the sport.

“We cannot effectively develop players without adequate facilities,” he noted.

The tennis administrator also highlighted funding constraints as another major obstacle affecting developmental programmes nationwide.

“Funding remains a critical issue for the growth of tennis,” he added.

Despite the challenges, Ochei reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to building a sustainable structure capable of producing future champions.

“We remain focused on creating a system that will develop world-class players,” he stressed.

The federation hopes that increased investment in facilities and grassroots programmes will strengthen Nigeria’s competitiveness on the international stage.

“Grassroots development remains the foundation of future success,” many sports observers believe.

Tennis administrators continue advocating for greater support from both public and private stakeholders to help unlock the sport’s potential.

For Victor Ochei, the message is clear.

Infrastructure and funding remain major obstacles.

Grassroots development must be prioritised.

And Nigeria needs stronger support systems to produce future tennis champions.

Because sustainable sporting success begins with investment in young talents and proper development structures.
