Yaymut Hails Return Of National Sports Festival

<3h>Former director-general of defunct National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhassan Yakmut has hailed the return of the National Sports Festival, six years after it last held in Lagos State.

Speaking against the backdrop of last Thursday’s opening ceremony of Abnuja 2018 and the record of stunning results after a week of action, Yakmut told sports247.ng that it is a huge success already.

Yakmut added that, for the festival to stage a return after six years, is a benchmark of success itself, no matter hitches that may be experienced in the course of the ongoing events.

The ex-volleyball national team player added: “It is a success already to see the National Sports Festival back.

“No doubt, the period of six years affected a lot of athletes and the development of their events.

“Many other talents would have been produced, but many of them have been able to shake off the abeyance.

“However, as we celebrate the successful return of the National Sports Festival, I hope that another long absence will not be repeated again.”
