WRESTLING: NIGERIA RETAIN AFRICAN FEMALE CHAMPIONS DAZE TUNISIA AND EGYPT

Nigerian female wrestlers on Saturday retain African female Wresting Champions in Hammamet , Tunisia with a stellar performance in Hammamet, Tunisia winning 5 Gold, 2 Silver and 3 Bronze Medals.

 

In one of the bouts, Blessing Oborududu beat Anta Sambo of Senegal 10-0 in the finals to win the 4th NIGERIAN gold medal at the ongoing African wrestling champions in Hammamet, Tunisia.

10 female wrestlers were featured at the African championships. Esther Kolawale (55kg) hurt her knee in training a day before the tournament. On the orders of the doctor, we decided to allow her rest the knee. Below are the results:

1. Mercy Genesis 48kg – Gold
2. Rosemary Nweke 53kg – bronze
3. Kolawale Esther 55kg – injury default
4. Odunayo Adekuoroye 57kg – Gold
5. Ifeoma Nwoye 59kg – bronze
6. Aminat Adeniyi – 62kg – Silver
7. Sunmisola Balogun 65kg – Gold
8. Blessing Oborududu 68kg – Gold
9. Hannah Reuben 72kg – Silver
10. Blessing Onyebuchi 76kg – Gold

Nigeria emerged champions of female wrestling to retain their crown as female wrestling African champions followed by Tunisia and EGYPT.
