Speaking ahead of the competition, Osagie struck a balanced tone, acknowledging the challenges while expressing confidence in the team’s potential.

“We are still building,” he said.

The Flyers are set to compete against some of Africa’s top basketball sides, and while expectations are high, the captain emphasized the importance of patience and gradual development.

“It takes time,” he implied.

According to Osagie, the focus has been on building team chemistry, improving coordination, and understanding each other’s strengths, key elements for success in a competitive tournament.

“We’re growing together,” he noted.

Despite being newcomers, the captain assured Nigerians that the team is determined to make a strong impression.

“We will give a good account,” he added.

For Osagie, representing Nigeria at the Basketball Africa League is both an honor and a responsibility, and the players are motivated to rise to the occasion.

“It means a lot,” he stressed.

The Flyers’ participation marks an important step for Nigerian basketball, offering an opportunity to compete at a higher level and gain valuable experience.

As the tournament approaches, attention will be on how the team performs against more established opponents.

But for Osagie and his teammates, the mindset is clear.

Compete, learn, and grow.

Because every journey starts somewhere.

And for Marktown Flyers, this is just the beginning.
