Super Falcons head coach Justin Madugu has expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, insisting the players are making steady progress despite limited time together.
With the continental tournament fast approaching, Madugu admitted he would have preferred more opportunities to work with the squad but believes the team’s preparations remain on track.
“Of course, it would have been ideal to have more games together,” Madugu said.
The Super Falcons boss revealed that efforts are still being made to arrange additional friendly matches before the tournament kicks off in July.
According to him, every extra game would provide another opportunity to fine-tune tactics and improve understanding within the squad.
“We’re hopeful we can still play a few more matches before the tournament,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Madugu expressed satisfaction with what he has seen from his players during preparations.
He believes the team has shown enough quality and commitment to compete strongly when the competition begins.
“So far, I’m comfortable with the performances of the players,” he stated.
The coach remains confident that the squad possesses the experience and quality needed to challenge for continental honours.
Nigeria will head into the tournament aiming to add another Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title to its illustrious history, with Madugu backing his players to rise to the occasion when the action gets underway.
