Titilayo Happiness Abanikanda, the dynamic wide receiver whose passion and relentless energy have become a symbol of the Ibom Raptors, has openly apologized to supporters following the team’s disappointing outing in the latest round of the Showtime Bowl Series XIV.
The Raptors entered the matchup with high expectations but were overwhelmed by the league-leading Abia Warriors, suffering a heavy 53–7 defeat in a game that never truly reflected the standard fans have come to expect from one of Showtime Flag Football’s most exciting sides.
Speaking emotionally after the game, Abanikanda admitted the performance fell below expectations and acknowledged the frustration among supporters.
“A lot of things happened today that we did not really understand. It was not the kind of game we planned for and definitely not the performance we wanted to give,” she said.
Despite the difficult result, the Raptors receiver remained composed and focused on the bigger picture, insisting the team’s playoff ambitions are still alive.
“We have to apologize to our fans because we did not come with our A-game. Our supporters deserve better because they continue to stand behind us every week.”
Known for her explosive plays and leadership presence on the field, Abanikanda’s honesty immediately resonated with fans, many of whom continue to view the Raptors as one of the strongest and most entertaining teams in the Showtime Flag Football League.
The defeat saw the Raptors slip behind the surging Lagos Rebels in the standings, but the team remains firmly in the playoff conversation as the regular season approaches its dramatic conclusion.
Abanikanda, however, made it clear the Raptors are far from giving up.
“We are keeping our eyes on the playoffs. This team has character, and we know how to respond. Difficult moments test you, but they also make you stronger.”
As the pressure intensifies heading toward postseason football, the Raptors will now look to regroup quickly — and with one of their emotional leaders already taking responsibility publicly, the message from the camp is clear:
The Raptors may have stumbled…
but they are not done yet.
