Following her recent setback at the LA Grand Prix, where she secured an eighth-place finish with a time of 12.69s, world champion Tobi Amusan aims to reclaim her stride. The race was won by Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, who set a world-leading time of 12.31s.

It is at the upcoming event in Jamaica that Amusan will strive to bounce back and reaffirm her prowess on the track, while also providing an opportunity for Ruth Usoro to exhibit her own exceptional abilities.

At the upcoming Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica, Tobi Amusan, the world champion, will
compete against a relatively less competitive field. However, she can anticipate a
challenging contest from Tia Jones of the United States, Cindy Sember of Great Britain, and Jamaica’s own Megan Tapper, who won a bronze medal at the Olympics.

Additionally, athletes such as Kerrica Hill, Crystal Morrison, and Michelle Harrison will also
be part of the competition.

In contrast, Ruth Usoro faces a formidable challenge as she aims to surpass tough
opponents and achieve a significant upset in her pursuit of reaching the qualifying standard for the World Championships in the women’s triple jump event.

In front of their home crowd, Ruth Usoro will face the challenge of lining up against world
medallists Shanieka Ricketts and Kimberly Williams in the women’s triple jump event.
Usoro, emerging as one of Africa’s most accomplished jumpers in history, will strive to make her mark amidst tough competition.

Joining the field are formidable opponents such as Thea Lafond, Imani Oliver, Jade-Ann
Dawkins, and Davisleydi Velazco.

In her pursuit of achieving double world championships qualifying standards, Ruth Usoro
carries a Season’s Best (SB) mark of 14.12m and a Personal Best (PB) of 14.50m in the
triple jump event. She aims to come close to or surpass these impressive distances as she
looks to replicate her success in hitting the qualifying standards in the long jump.
