Relegation Hard To Take In – Kelechi Iheanacho

Following Leicester City’s relegation to the second tier of English football, Nigerian
international Kelechi Iheanacho issued a heartfelt apology to the club’s fans.

Despite securing a 2-1 victory against West Ham United on the season’s final day, theĀ  Foxes found themselves back in the championship after a twelve-year absence.

Kelechi Iheanacho took responsibility for the team’s unfortunate outcome and expressed hisĀ  sincere regret to the loyal Leicester City supporters. Recognizing the disappointment and frustration felt by the fans, he felt compelled to offer his apologies for their relegation.

Iheanacho expressed his deep disappointment as he discussed the club’s failure to make an immediate return to topflight football.

Overwhelmed by his emotions, he found it difficult to articulate his feelings. Nevertheless,
he felt compelled to express his gratitude towards the football club, the fans, and everyone who supported them throughout their journey.

Despite the immense disappointment, he remained determined and vowed to stay strong,
hoping for a triumphant return.

Acknowledging the current downturn, Iheanacho acknowledged that nobody within the club was happy at this moment. He recognized that it was a matter of timing for the team and everyone involved.

Understanding the need to accept the situation and move forward, he emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and not dwelling on the past.

Although they couldn’t change the outcome, they had to look ahead and focus on the future. Iheanacho wholeheartedly appreciated the unwavering support of the fans, particularly their remarkable display of encouragement until the very end.

Despite the disappointment, their constant clapping and unwavering dedication did not go unnoticed. He expressed his sincere gratitude for their support and all they had done for the club. The team’s goal now was to give their best efforts to bounce back and regain their position.

During the previous season, Iheanacho faced limited playing time but still managed to make a significant impact, contributing 10 goals (five goals and five assists) for the Foxes.
