‘The Falcons Deserve Better’ Oparanozie Attacks NFF — Ex-Captain Furious Over Team’s Preparation

Former Super Falcons captain Desire Oparanozie has strongly criticized the Nigeria Football Federation over what she described as inadequate support and preparation for the women’s national team ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking on the situation surrounding the Super Falcons, Oparanozie accused the federation of failing to give the team the attention and structure required for a side of its status.

“The Falcons deserve better,” she said.

According to the former captain, Nigeria’s women’s team continues to receive treatment far below the standards seen in other major football nations.

“We are treated poorly,” she implied.

Oparanozie pointed to issues ranging from poor preparation to concerns over remuneration and planning.

“The problems are many,” she noted.

She also referenced the team’s inactivity during the last international window as evidence of what she believes is poor administration within the federation.

“That window exposed everything,” she added.

For the former striker, regular matches and proper preparation are essential if Nigeria hopes to maintain its dominance in African women’s football.

“You cannot succeed without preparation,” she stressed.

Oparanozie warned that continued neglect could eventually affect the team’s performances and reputation internationally.

“We cannot take success for granted,” she said.

Her comments have added to growing debates surrounding the support structure for women’s football in Nigeria.

For Oparanozie, the message is clear.

Respect the team.

Prepare properly.

And support women’s football seriously.

Because sustained success requires more than history—it requires investment and commitment.
