Radio Bayelsa Team (A) has been crowned Champions of the 2018 Clinton Thompson SWAN Cup in Bayelsa State.
Radio Bayelsa beat TV Continental by Three goals to two on penalties after a one all draw in regulation time at the Samson Siasia Stadium Yenagoa.
The Timi Jumbo tutored side took the lead early in the first half but Ovieteme George led TVC immediately replied through John Angese.
Earlier in the day Ministry of Information came from two goals down to beat Bayelsa State Newspaper Corporation New Waves by four goals to two in the losers final to claim the third place.
Shortly after the encounter victorious coach of Radio Bayelsa Timi Jumbo expressed delight over the triumph, Stressing that the victory came as a result of hard work.
Radio Bayelsa Captain Pius Otiti thanked the almighty God for the victory haven lost in the first edition to TVC in the first round.
On his part TVC Captain Ovieteme George attributed the defeat to fatigue as a result playing five games in five days.
He also Thanked Bayelsa SWAN for organizing the Clinton Thompson SWAN Cup in State which has brought togetherness among colleagues in the Profession.
Meanwhile the final round of activities continue on Saturday with the 6Km Road Race which is strictly for Journalists. It will start by 6.30am from INEC junction along the Melford Okilo Mbiama-Yenagoa Road and terminate at the Samson Siasia sports complex for a ceremony that includes presentation of cash, medals and trophies to winners.
An Awards Night is scheduled for the NUJ Press center, Azikoro Road, Ekeki from 5pm.
