Players, coaches and officials of Nigeria’s beach soccer national team, Super Sand Eagles are spending time watching video clips of their counterparts from Ghana ahead of this weekend’s continental qualifier in Kaduna.
Sports247 reports that both teams are billed to lock horns in the first leg of the final qualifier for a spot at this year’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal, and the Nigerian squad have added the video strategy to their build-up plans.
This was revealed by coach of the side, Abdullahi Isa, who admitted that Saturday’s game at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna will not be a stroll in the park, hence the need for enhanced strategies to guide the Sand Eagles.
He also thanked 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON hosts and defending champions, Senegal for giving his side two tough build-up games on Saturday and Monday, which he believes beefed up the match conditioning and awareness of his players.
Although the Nigerian hosts lost both games 6-4, Isa picked positives from the experience gained from the encounters, which he believes will come in handy during the ‘jollof battle’ with Ghana on Saturday.
“We all saw the energy in the team. All we need to do is to let the boys know that they need to concentrate more. We conceded some goals from a little bit of lack of concentration.
“Tactically, we are doing okay. We can get better before the Beach Soccer AFCON qualifiers against Ghana. That’s why these two friendlies were very important ahead of Ghana.
“The Senegalese team really pushed us and I think our team is now ready for Ghana. We have seen some of their clips and we are still going to do more,” Isa disclosed.
Sports247 reports further that victory on Saturday for the Super Sand Eagles will put them in good stead ahead of next weekend’s return leg in Accra, as Isa and his players aim to make up for their loss to Mauritania at the same venue in the 2024 qualifiers.
