Super Falcons wary ahead of Cameroon AWCON rematch

Nigeria are determined to account for the scalp of rivals Cameroon in the semifinals of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON).

The Super Falcons emerged as champions at the 2016 edition of the competition pipping the Indomitable Lionesses 1-0 in Yaoundé.

“Everyone remembers what happened in the AWCON two years ago – we ended up champions in front of Cameroonian fans,” Nigeria defender Josephine Chukwunonye reflected.

Cameroon’s class of 2018 has relied on rugged physicality and a formidable mental toughness.

“They haven’t lost a single game, they have real quality with some very good players,” Asurum defender Chukwunonye warned.

“We’re going to have to concentrate against them for 90 minutes – we cannot afford to switch off at any stage.”

“The match against Cameroon is going to be very hard, and tight. We will play a perfect match and ensure we emerge victorious.

“We can’t give them any space. Our mental superiority should make the difference.”
