Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation and former Super Eagles defender Augustine Eguavoen has expressed confidence that Nigeria will successfully qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Reacting to the qualifying draw which placed Nigeria alongside Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar and Tanzania, Eguavoen admitted the group presents a competitive challenge but believes the Super Eagles remain favourites.

“I believe Nigeria will qualify,” Eguavoen said.
According to the former Super Eagles coach, all the teams in the group are capable of providing difficult tests during the qualifiers.
“These countries will challenge us,” he implied.
Eguavoen stressed that African football has become increasingly competitive, making it important for Nigeria to approach every game seriously.
“There are no easy matches anymore,” he noted.
Despite acknowledging the strength of the opposition, the NFF technical director remains optimistic that the Super Eagles possess enough quality and experience to secure qualification comfortably.
“I still expect Nigeria to qualify seamlessly,” he added.
Nigeria will enter the qualifiers under pressure to respond strongly after recent struggles in the FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
“The expectations around the Super Eagles remain very high,” many football observers believe.
Eguavoen believes proper preparation and consistency will be crucial for the team moving forward.
“The mentality and preparation must be right,” he stressed.
