STANLEY OKOROM BRACED FOR ENYIMBA RIGHT BACK COMPETITION

After having successive roles as an unused substitute, Enyimba right back Stanley Okorom has stated his readiness to fight his way into the Enyimba starting line up.

The defender has yet to make his competitive debut since joining the club this season, with captain Andrew Abalogu completing all ninety minutes in the right back position in the club’s opening three league fixtures.

Speaking to the club’s media channel, Okorom described the situation as one that motivates him to work harder, while revealing that it is such fight for places that makes the team competitive.

“I knew I would need to work extra hard to get the chance to play at Enyimba. The competition (for a starting shirt) is one of the reasons I decided to join the club so I’m ready for it. I will just continue to work hard because I know my time will surely come.”

Asked if he would prefer his debut to come in a home fixture, the 24-year-old responded, “I know that the support of the fans makes it easier at home, but I’m a professional. It doesn’t matter where. I will just do my job whenever I’m called. I’ve been in this league for about four seasons now, so there’s nothing for me to worry about.”

Okorom has represented the national team at both U-17 and U-23 levels.
