Simy Nwankwo Scores But Crotone Endures A Disappointing Evening

Nigeria international, Simy Nwankwo was on the scoresheet for FC Cotrone in their Serie A match against Sampdoria where they fell to a 3-1 defeat.

The forward scored from the penalty spot late in the first half to give his side some hope after they had gone two goals down prior.

Crotone’s hopes of getting something out of the game was dashed when Quagliarella restored Sampdoria’s two-goal lead in the 65th minute.

Simy was brought off for Luis Rojas in the 87th of the game and it ended 3-1 to the host.

His goal is his fourth of the season coming from 13 league matches. Crotone are bottom of the Serie A table after 13 rounds with 6 points.

Simy played a crucial role in Crotone’s promotion to the Italian top-flight, netting 20 times in Serie B last season. With their poor start to the current season, Simy’s goals will go a long way in deciding if the Red and Blue are to avoid the drop.
