Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, is expected in Kano on Saturday for a high-profile novelty football match organised by former Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Danburan Abubakar Nuhu.
The much-anticipated event will take place at the iconic Sani Abacha Stadium, with top sports stakeholders, football legends, politicians, youth groups, and football enthusiasts expected to attend from across the country.
According to the organisers, the novelty match is designed to promote unity, friendship, and youth engagement through sports, while also supporting the vision and reforms being championed by the National Sports Commission.
Speaking ahead of the event, Danburan Abubakar Nuhu described Dikko’s visit as a major boost for sports development in Kano State.
“The presence of the NSC Chairman is a huge honour for Kano and will inspire many young athletes across the country,” he said.
He added that the event would also create an opportunity for stakeholders within the sports sector to strengthen relationships and discuss the growth of grassroots football in Nigeria.
“Several football veterans and dignitaries will be part of this event. It is not just a football match, but a platform for unity, networking, and youth empowerment through sports,” he noted.
Danburan further called on residents and football lovers in Kano to turn out in large numbers to support the initiative and enjoy what is expected to be an entertaining and symbolic football gathering.
