He praised Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) for organising a successful league, then disclosed that discussions with African Hockey Federation (AHF) president, Seif El Dine Ahmed confirmed that the country has talent capable of competing globally with the right facilities.
Dikko, who hinted at the recent approval by President Bola Tinubu for the rehabilitation of sports infrastructure, pointed out that Nigeria can think of hosting major competitions once the national hockey pitch is upgraded to international standards.
“This tournament perfectly aligns with the vision of the National Sports Commission under the Renewed Hope Initiative for a vibrant sports economy. We have already identified world-class turf in consultation with the African Hockey Federation.
“Once upgraded, Nigeria can host major African hockey tournaments. Sports bring Nigerians together irrespective of tribe, religion or background, serving as a national asset and driver of economic growth through jobs and tourism,” Dikko submitted.
Sports247 reports further that Kada Stars of Kaduna emerged champions of the 2026 National Hockey Super League after completing an impressive unbeaten campaign with a 3-2 victory over Plateau Tigers of Jos in their final match on Saturday.
