Enterprising teenager, Azeez Muritala was in sparkling form for Super Accurate FC of Ikotun, Lagos, and eventually emerged as man of the match during his side’s 4-2 victory on Wednesday at this year’s Seamoriow U15 League.
Sports247 reports that all spectators, journalists, commentators and match officials at Seamoriow Sports Complex in Islamic area of Ikotun were unanimous that Muritala was the best player on the astro turf surface of the arena, after he scored one of his team’s goals and provided an assist in their spanking of Right To Smile FC.
Super Accurate went ahead as early as the fifth minute of play through a direct free kick by their captain, Ayomide Obed (aka Indo Mie), and it was 2-0 just 60 seconds later, when equally enterprising Chibuzor Akudo pounced on a loose ball in the box to slam a curling effort into the opponents’ net.
The rampaging side, who won the first edition of the competition in 2022 and train at nearby Ikotun Community Primary School, under the technical acumen of their mentor, Oseni Idris Adewale (aka Coach Super), appeared to be running away with a wide margin victory, until their smooth-playing opponents fired back.
Right To Smile’s gangling striker, Ojuroye Adebayo struck the first of his two goals with a well-placed header to give his side hope of pulling level, only for Muritala to mesmerise their defence down the right flank and hit a low shot home to make it 3-1.
It could have been adjudged an own goal, though, as Right To Smile’s goalkeeper, Benedict Henry, actually got his hands on the ball but he flapped his fingers clumsily and allowed the round leather sail into his net.
Dramatically, Ojuroye gave his team hope once again with another towering header, and both sides went into half-time with a close knit 3-2 scoreline in favour of Coach Super’s side, who were the more physically imposing and overly dominant side on the day.
After the interval, Super Accurate continued from where they let off, and Roqeeb Okunade soon made the best of wide open space in midfield to smash home a cannon shot from distance, which sealed a 4-2 win for the team that already looks like a top contender for the trophy.
Many spectators and analysts who Sports247 spoke with after the game reckoned that the only obstacles Super Accurate might face in trying to win the cup next Sunday would most likely be the junior team of 36 Lion FC as well as the organiser’s squad, Seamoriow Football Academy, who also picked a second straight win in Wednesday’s opening game.
Another talking point was about Right To Smile, with observers noting that, though they lost Wednesday’s game, they had several positives, most prominent of which was the fact that their players looked younger and were physically smaller.
That, though, did not stop them from putting in their fair share of exciting displays, which left many present also hailing the skills of Carey Ola-Ajayi, Olaifa Emmanuel, Tofumi Adeshina and Odunayo Daniel, who were all described as small but mighty in the line-up of Right To Smile FC.
Sports247 gathered further that the competition continues every day at the same venue, all the way till Sunday, September 7th – with N1.5m on offer for the winning team.
