Remo Stars dim Shooting Stars in NNL Super 8

Goals from Edoka Owoicho, Awoyemi Abiodun and Olufemi Oladapo inspired Remo Stars to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Southwestern rival, Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in the ongoing Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 competition currently taking place at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

Both sides started brilliantly into the game with the first opportunity going towards Victor Mbaoma, he tried his shot but rolled off play.

The Sky Blue maintained possession before Jonathan Ebule got a good chance to give his side the lead but hurriedly took a shot that went over the bar.

A good tactical play continued from both sides with good defending before Opeoluwa Olufemi stole the ball to set up Abayomi Junior, he tried to get the ball over Fabiyi Emmanuel but the keeper reacted quickly to deny the attempt.

Fatai Osho’s men continued with great momentum to get a goal and it yielded in the 33rd minute after Edozie Ewelike delivered a wonderful corner kick and Edoka Owoicho rose above his marker to convert with his head to give Remo Stars the lead.

The Oluyole Warriors then pushed forward to get an equaliser after they broke off from their half to counter their opponents through Opeoluwa Olufemi but Fabiyi Emmanuel came to the rescue yet again.

The second half started with great excitement from both sides before Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) got a free kick close to the Sky Blue Stars box, Opeluwa Olufemi took the kick to hit the woodwork before Mohammed Akilu converted but the referee signaled offside.

A couple of minutes later, Hassan Ya’u sent in a long range pass towards Awoyemi Abiodun, who used his control to dribble his marker before curling a beautiful shot to extend the lead for the Sky Blue Stars.

The game continued with the Oluyole Warriors looking for a goal to reduce the deficit but the Sky Blue Stars compounded their woes after Ekene Awazie located Victor Mbaoma who then sighted Olufemi Oladapo, the midfielder tried his attempt from distance and Lucky Jimoh was unlucky to stop the goal.
