The promising centre-back has emerged as one of the standout Nigerian talents in Eastern Europe following an impressive campaign in Hungary.

Akpe made 15 appearances for Zalaegerszeg this season and also registered a goal, attracting scouts from several top European clubs.

Sources close to the transfer reveal that clubs from Germany, Spain, and France have monitored the defender closely in recent months, while Portuguese powerhouse S.L. Benfica are also believed to have made enquiries about his availability.

Despite the growing competition, Rangers are understood to be leading the race for the Nigerian prospect and are reportedly preparing an official bid to secure his signature ahead of next season.

The expected transfer fee is believed to exceed €5 million, underlining the rising value and reputation of the young defender in the European market.

Akpe Victory’s potential move to Ibrox would mark another major milestone for Nigerian footballers abroad, especially for young defenders making their mark in Europe.

Rangers, known for developing and showcasing talents on the continental stage, see the Nigerian as a long-term investment capable of strengthening their defensive options.

The move would also continue the strong Nigerian presence in Scottish football, a league that has increasingly become a pathway for African talents to gain exposure at the highest level.

At just a young age, Akpe’s composure, physical presence, aerial strength, and confidence on the ball have made him one of the most sought-after defenders from Nigeria currently playing in Europe.

With negotiations ongoing, attention now shifts to whether Rangers can complete the deal ahead of rival clubs interested in securing one of Nigeria’s brightest defensive prospects.
