Northern Lions, Middle-Belt Tigers Win Nigeria Cricket Super League Openers in Lagos 

The Northern Lions and Middle-Belt Tigers recorded impressive wins on the opening day of matches in the newly introduced Nigeria Super League at the TBS Cricket Oval, Lagos on Saturday.

Northern Lions Defeat Southern Sharks by Four Wickets

Northern Lions produced a dominant performance to secure a four-wicket victory over Southern Sharks in Match One of the competition.

Southern Sharks struggled with the bat and were bowled out for 89 runs in 20 overs.

Danladi Isaac top-scored with 26 runs off 33 balls, while Miracle Akhigbe added 22 off 30 deliveries.

For Northern Lions, Sylvester Okpe starred with the ball, returning figures of 3/9, while Reignet Osagie claimed 2/17.

In response, Northern Lions chased down the target comfortably, finishing on 92/6 in 15.4 overs.

Hosanna Omonikhobio led the chase with 30 runs off 24 balls, while Sylvester Okpe contributed 20 off 15 deliveries to complete an all-round display.

Southern Sharks bowlers Isaac Danladi and Odion Isesele both picked up three wickets each, but their efforts were not enough to prevent defeat.

Middle-Belt Tigers Edge Western Dolphins in Thrilling Chase

Middle-Belt Tigers held their nerve to defeat Western Dolphins by four wickets in a closely contested Match Two encounter.

Western Dolphins posted 129/6 in their allotted 20 overs, with David Abiebhode scoring 31 off 17 balls and Daniel Ajekun adding 31 off 32 deliveries.

Sulaimon Runsewe impressed with the ball for the Tigers, taking 2/17, while Elochukwu Ndubudem recorded figures of 1/27.

Chasing 130 for victory, Middle-Belt Tigers reached 131/6 in 18.5 overs to seal the win with seven balls remaining.

David Ankrah anchored the chase with 40 runs off 37 balls, while Solomon Chilemanya added 33 off 30 deliveries.

Western Dolphins bowlers Chiemelie E. Udekwu and Destiny Chilemanya claimed 4/13 and 2/20 respectively, but the Tigers successfully completed the chase to continue their strong showing in the Nigeria Super League.
