Following the conclusion of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season, attention has now shifted to the Women’s President Federation Cup quarter-finals, with some of Nigeria’s biggest women’s clubs battling for semi-final spots.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has scheduled the quarter-final matches for Thursday, June 18, 2026, across Benin City, Aba and Anyigba.

One of the biggest fixtures will see defending champions Rivers Angels take on FC Robo Queens in Benin City, while newly crowned NWFL champions Edo Queens will battle Nasarawa Amazons in Anyigba.

Elsewhere, Sunshine Queens will confront Confluence Queens in another quarter-final showdown in Benin City.

In Aba, Heartland Queens will face Ibom Angels in a high-stakes encounter boosted by financial incentives from the Akwa Ibom State Government.
Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, announced a ₦100,000 reward for every goal scored by Ibom Angels against Heartland Queens, in addition to a ₦500,000 victory bonus for the team.

Bassey made the announcement during a surprise visit to the club’s training ground shortly after Ibom Angels secured qualification for the quarter-finals with a hard-fought Round of 16 victory over Bayelsa Queens.

Motivating the players ahead of the crucial encounter, the Commissioner praised their determination and promised additional rewards if they continue progressing in the competition.

“More surprise bonuses and incentives await you as you progress,” Bassey told the players.
He also commended the club’s management, technical crew, players and Chairman, Prince Ukeme Ukpong, describing his leadership as exceptional.

Reflecting on the victory over Bayelsa Queens, Bassey said:
“What the team did in that match was unexpected. You people did well. The moment you play well, the team does good.”

The Commissioner further urged the players to remain individually motivated.

“You should not believe you’re playing for anybody. The moment you believe you’re playing for Akwa Ibom State, for Ibom Angels, for the Chairman, you’re losing. First, you’re playing for yourself. You’re playing for your family. With that belief, you’re going to succeed,” he added.

Bassey was accompanied during the visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Sports, the Akwa Ibom State FA Chairman and the Club Chairman.

With confidence high after eliminating Bayelsa Queens and lucrative bonuses on offer, Ibom Angels head to Aba with renewed determination as the race for the Women’s President Federation Cup title intensifies.
