There are thousands of football academies in Lagos but only few of them can attract young players when it comes to nurturing and mentoring players to stardom.
Mageeco football academy was established in 1994 in Agege, Lagos.
It has carved a niche for itself by giving young players at the age of 3 to 20 years old players proper training, education, mentorship and nurturing them to stardom.
Recently a director of the academy, Prince Ayobamidele Akeem popularly known as Agama told our journalist that Mageeco football academy has attracted young players within the state and outside the country.
Asked why players rush to play in Mageeco academy,Akeem said the academy has programmes for the registered players in area of education and mentorship.
“In Mageeco football academy, players quickly improve because of the uniqueness of the academy.We have certified backroom staff that give these young players how to play good football and achieve success.Many of our former players are currently playing in Nigeria Professional Football League and outside the country.The likes of Tosin Omoyale(plateau United) Gafar Lasisi Olafimihan(3SC) and many of them who are playing in Crown FC and others.We do not stop there because we have partnered with some foreign agents and presently we have some players like Kevin Emmanuel playing in Moldova, Precious Ernest plying his trade in UAE and Akinlabi Adedayo who plays in USA,”he said
Akeem said players rush to the academy because the management has plans for every player that comes to the academy.
In his own comment,team manager of the academy,Adegoke Adams said many Nigeria premier and professional club coaches put call to the management to supply them good players for their recruitment.
“Maybe people don’t know that most of our local coaches ask us to give them players because our products are original.In Mageeco academy, discipline is our watchword and our players are outstanding in Nigeria,”he affirmed.
Mageeco academy is located at Pako Amao sports center,Agege,Lagos.The academy has a ghanian Player,Julius Darko and over 120 players have registered with the academy.The academy has accommodation for players who come from outside Lagos.Recently,the academy has sponsorship deal with Owu Sports Wear.
Adegoke popularly known as Ancelotti said the academy is one of the best in Lagos boasting that the academy would become well known in Nigeria in next few years.
