Plateau State Commissioner for youth and sports issues two match ultimatum to Plateau United technical crew

The Plateau State government has given a two match ultimatum to the technical crew of Plateau United to change the fortunes of the team or have their contract terminated, sports247.ng reports.

 

 

According to a press release by the Media Director of Jos outfit, Albert Dakup, said the state commissioner for youth and sports, Victor Lapang gave the ultimatum while addressing management, coaches and players of the team at the new Jos Stadium.

Lapang said the decision to give the ultimatum became necessary in view of the team current position on the league table which is not acceptable to government which sponsor the team.

He explained that the state governor, Simon Lalong is not happy with the performance of the team this season and urged the management, technical crew and players to redouble their efforts in finding a lasting solution to the problem facing the team.

The youth and sports commissioner disclosed that government has invested alot in running the team and it cannot afford to see it lose its place in the Nigeria Professional Football League after winning the league title two years ago.

Lapang challenged the team to close ranks and put their differences aside in order to salvage the team from relegation.

The state acting Director of Sports, Simon Moven who also accompany the commissioner appealed to the team imbibe the virtues of unity and discipline, stressing that without these two virtues, nothing meaningful can be achieved.

Moven called on the technical crew to see all the players as their children and come out with a winning template that will see the Team maintain the topflight status at the end of the season.

Head coach of the team, Abdu Maikaba assured that the team will not relegate as efforts are on by the technical crew to start winning their matches beginning from Sunday’s tie against his former club, Akwa United of Uyo who presently occupying the top spot on the NPFL table, group B.

General Manager of the Club, Pius Henwan and one of the club, supporters, Hassan Sambo donated an undisclosed amount of money to ginger the players ahead of Sunday’s crucial match.
