Philips Moses: “Island All Stars Can Build a Formidable Club With Veterans Above 60”

Island All Stars Sure B Homes coach, Philips Moses, has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance after securing a medal in the third-place final, while insisting that the side had enough quality to reach the championship match.

Speaking with Sports247 after the third-place encounter, Moses described the team’s overall showing as positive despite falling short of their ultimate objective.

“The performance was good. Unfortunately, our team was meant to be in the final, but to God be the glory for the win,” the coach said.»

Island All Stars produced an entertaining display in the third-place fixture, with both sides contributing to a high-scoring contest. Moses revealed that the attacking output was not entirely surprising, considering the character his team had demonstrated throughout the tournament.

Asked whether he anticipated such a goal-filled encounter before kick-off, the coach responded confidently.

“Yes. My team has been a striking force since the start of the tournament, but we thank God that everything went well today.”»

“Island All Stars consist of intellectuals — police officers, footballers, army officers, doctors, ex-players and others. It is a place to be and will encourage people to join,” he explained.

The coach highlighted the remarkable fitness and continued involvement of players well beyond the traditional age brackets, noting that some members are above 60 and 70 years old but remain active on the football field.

Moses believes the initiative can grow into a formidable veterans’ football institution if more people embrace the project.

“We have players that are above 60 and 70 that are still active. I will encourage people to join, and we can build a formidable club — Island All Stars,” he added.

His comments underline the club’s broader mission of promoting active ageing, camaraderie and lifelong participation in football while demonstrating that passion for the sport does not have an expiry date.
