Ondo State Wrestlers Surprised Me – Akuh

Ondo State wrestling team coach at the recent National Sports Festival in Abuja, Purity Akuh has confessed that his wards surprised him a lot with their feats during the competition.

After taking home a haul of gold medals at Abuja 2018, sports247.ng can report that Akuh was surprised that his team of youngsters held their own.

Akuh said he was pleasantly surprised to see his lads and lases hold their own against more established and better exposed grapplers during the events in Abuja.

He went on to applaud all the wrestlers, who he thanked for making him proud with their attitude and the right mentality for success.

After winning seven gold medals, three silver and five bronze from their efforts on the mat, Akuh put it down to God’s backing as well as support from the state government, commissioner for sports and fans.

Akuh said: “The younger wrestlers like Sunmisola Balogun, Esther Kolawole and Fisayo Kolawole surprised me by winning gold medals.

“They defeated former champions at the just concluded National Sports Festival.

“The wrestlers have shown determination and zeal with their performances.

“To my wrestlers I salute your courage, commitment and determination in promoting Ondo State.

“My special thanks go to the Almighty God for the successful outing. I also want to thank the commissioner of sports Ondo State, management and staff of the sports council; my family and our fans for their support.”
