Speaking during a presentation at the YORA Summit 2026 on the impact of wrestling on youth development, Mcduff said he would use his experience and connections in the US to help Kenyan wrestlers improve technically, pursue education and potentially progress to the national team.

He said wrestling can instil discipline, confidence, mental toughness, leadership and sportsmanship while creating an inclusive environment for young people from different backgrounds.

Mcduff drew on his own career to demonstrate the value of perseverance and coaching. After recording a 1–12 record in his first season and considering quitting, he improved under coaches Shane Turner and Benjamin Riker.

He later won a state championship, helped Red Bank High School claim a team title in 2016 and finished his youth career with 183 wins and 56 losses. His college career included a conference championship and a rise to 11th in the national rankings before an injury ended his eligibility.

He said his proposed contribution in Kenya would include technical coaching, takedown defence, offensive skills, strength and conditioning, nutrition, competition preparation and mental toughness training. He also offered support for athletes preparing for mixed martial arts and jiu-jitsu competitions.

Beyond training, Mcduff proposed mentorship programmes, cultural exchanges, fundraising, equipment support and educational guidance. He said his US connections could help Kenyan athletes explore college wrestling opportunities, scholarships and other pathways, with equal access for male and female athletes.

He also suggested linking gyms, coaches and athletes in Kenya and the US to create regular tournaments and competitive fixtures. He expressed interest in establishing a team that could compete against the Kenya Wrestling Federation and local gyms, including Orange County.

Mcduff said the long-term objective was to create a structured pathway for young Kenyan wrestlers to develop and earn places on the national team.
