Odaudu Faults Delayed FIBA Afro League Draw

Nigeria Premier Basketball League champions, Rivers Hoopers of Port Harcourt, Ogoh Odaudu has faulted the delayed draw for the maiden FIBA Afro League.

Although the competition is scheduled to commence in January, Odaudu said in an interview with sports247.ng that early draw would help teams to start making plans for the opponents they will confront.

Odaudu, who led Hoppers to win the recent FIBA Africa zone 3 qualifiers in Cotonou, Benin Republic, stated further that the organizers’ inability to conduct the draws in time is a hindrance for the 16 qualified teams.

He reckoned that the newly introduced Afro League, which replaces the FIBA Africa Champions Cup, should get a better take-off platform.

Odaudu argued further: “What we are seeing now is not good enough, because teams don’t know who they are playing or where they are going based on the new format.

“Nonetheless, my team will continue to prepare on our own part; but we must say the current arrangement affects proper planning for the clubs.”
