NSF Delta 2022 : Team Nasarawa Clinch Medals Im Golf, Taekwondo, Advance To Last Eight In Hockey Event

With about five days before the 21st edition of the National Sports Festival comes to an end, Team Nasarawa, on Monday, witnessed improvements in their medals’ cabinet.

The duo of Jennifer Atabwer and Comfort Adakole clinched one Bronze Medal in the Amateur Female Team Event.

Ladi Louisa Iho resigned to a Bronze Medal after losing her Semi-Finals fight against Chidinma Nwankwo of Edo State in the Female 49kg Taekwondo Event.

This brings to nine, the total number of medals Team Nasarawa have so far won at the multi-sport fiesta, including two Silver in Para-Table Tennis and Para-Powerlifting, and six Bronze in Taekwondo(four), Para-Powerlifting, Judo and Golf Events, respectively.

Despite losing 2-1 to host, Delta State, in their last Group B match, Nasarawa State Hockey Team still qualified to the Quarter-Finals stage on technical grounds, booking a clash against fellow Northern State, Kaduna, on Tuesday morning at the Hockey Stadium, Old Okpanam Road, Asaba.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Team Nasarawa will return to action in the morning on Tuesday when the duo of Ibrahim Abdullahi and Bernard Attah will try to swell the Medal cabinet for the State in the Male Amateur Four-ball StrokePlay Golf Event.

In the Female Category, Jennifer Atabwer and Comfort Adakole will hope to improve on their medal status as they will also participate in the Female Amateur Four-ball StrokePlay Golf Event.

Coach Zakariah Ingyaken-tutored Wrestlers will get on the mats on Tuesday.

The trio of Salisu Idris (60kg), Addo Yakubu(61kg) and Idris Yahuza(57kg) will be flying Nasarawa’s flag in the different categories of the Wrestling Event.

Beauty Timothy who won Bronze Medal at the last Sports Festival in Benin City, Edo State, will headline Team Nasarawa’s Kung-Fu activities on Tuesday.

She will spare nothing to surpass her previous achievement when she fights in the Female 52kg against a yet-to-be-known opponent from Akwa-Ibom State.

Grace Lamis(65kg) and Obanda Joy(75kg) will both take on their opponents from The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and Rivers State, respectively, in the morning on Tuesday, at the St. Patrick’s Anglican College, Asaba.
