Seven-time Nigeria League Champions, Rangers International F.C, will commence its chase to be crowned the champions of the inaugural edition of NPFL/DMF Preseason Super Cup Tournament 2022 with an intriguing fixture against fierce neighbors, Enyimba International F.C in what can be termed, ‘Oriental Derby’ inside Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun state on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
In a brief but colorful tournament,’ media parley & draw ceremony held at the conference hall of Elegance Hotel & Suites in the nation’s commercial capital, Lagos, the eastern neighbors were billed to start their campaign for the preseason tournament in the second match of Day 1 after Bendel Insurance and Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) would have settled scores in the opening match of the game.
The ceremony was organized by NPFL staff and witnessed by representatives of tournament sponsors, Dozy Mmobuosi Foundation, who had coaches and management staff of the four participating teams present.
Technical Adviser of Rangers, coach Abdul Maikaba, said after the ceremony, “Actually, our wish in this tournament is for Rangers to come tops because, if you are talking of history with the other clubs invited, we enjoy a big advantage over them. We have had a long period to prepare our team for this tournament and the fast-approaching football season which gives me confidence that our target will be achieved at the end of the tournament and go home with the one hundred-million-naira prize money which to a large extent will assist us in the regular season.”
The organizers apart from the prize money also have trophies for the top three finishers just as there are cash and trophies for the M.V.P and top scorer of the tournament.
