NPFL U17 Youth League: The Battle Of The United Ends In A Draw As Katsina Pipped Rangers

Katsina United were the biggest winner on Day 2 of the NPFL U17 Youth League playoffs when they defeated Enugu Rangers by a goal to nil.

After losing their opening game to Plateau United on the opening day, Katsina United knew they needed a win against Enugu Rangers if they want to win the playoff.

Umar Muhammad was the hero when his header from Samaila Umar’s freekick found the back of Chike Chinedu’s net in the 40th munite.

Enugu Rangers threw everything in search of an equalizer and it was Ochake Friday who won a penalty in the early moments of the second half.

Umar Yusuf in goal for Katsina United stood tall to deny Umeh Chibuike from the resultant spotkick as Katsina United claimed their first win of the playoff.

In the second game, Rivers United were held to a stalemate by Plateau United in a game that was described as the game of the day.

Seiyefa Jackson was first to test Walbe Philips in goal for Plateau United as Chimeze Ohotie tipped Pede Ezekiel’s well strucked freekick for a Plateau United corner.

Both sides settled for a draw as Paul Maggit (Rivers United vs Plateau United) and Umar Yusuf (Enugu Rangers vs Katsina United) where both voted the Men of their respective matches.

Next engagement will see Enugu Rangers face Plateau United while Katsina United will battle Remo Stars on Day 3 of the npfl U17 Youth League in Benin.
