Glasgow Rangers of Scotland’s fast-rising defender, Emmanuel Oluwasegun Opeyemi Fernandez has gained more accolades in recognition of his surging status, with the latest plaudit rating him as ‘an unbelievable player.’
Sports247 reports that, following a gallant performance by the 25-year-old former Brentford, Gillingham and Barnet stopper in action for Nigeria during a 3 3 draw with Russia on Tuesday, Fernandez has received more accolades from one of his club’s former defenders.
The latest verbal applause for Fernandez has come from a legend of his Glasgow-based Scottish Premiership club and former star in Scotland’s national team, Kirk Broadfoot, who posited that the Nigerian lad is an all-round player.
Although Fernandez looked shaky during some patches of Tuesday’s draw in Nizhny Novgorod and he has faced scrutiny during recent matches, Broadfoot opined that the stopper has qualities that make him continue to grow since joining The Gers from Peterborough United.
Broadfoot added that Rangers’ ability to keep a hold on Fernandez during recent transfer windows is a huge feat by the club, which he opined is worthy of praise and a show of business acumen by the Ibrox outfit.
“I think a big one was keeping big Fernandez here. He looks like an unbelievable player. I just think he’s an all-round athlete. He’s good on the ball. He’s very good in the air.
“He’s confident. He can probably do what he wants in the game, to be honest. He is the type of player that people look for,” Broadfoot declared with delight.
