NPFL: Bature values Pillars start

Forward Yaro Bature is happy to see his Kano Pillars team begin the season with a win, as he values the morale boost in the dressing room.

Masu Gida picked up a scrappy 1-0 win over Heartland on Sunday to start 2018-19 season with three points, in a game Bature has reflected was more valuable for the result than the performance.

“It is always better to start with a win. It is very important for the morale of the players,” admitted Bature to Sports247.ng.

“It was key to start with the three points.

“We did not play very well, but we would all choose to win rather than to play well.

“We had a lot of chances to score but we were prepared and when you cannot win by two or three goals, it is better to win 1-0.

“Can we push for a title this season? To think that we can win anything not is not important. We have to go step by step.”
