“Nobody Comes to This Country and Survives!” — Eguavoen Sends Warning to Comoros Ahead of Super Falcons Clash

Interim Super Falcons coach Austin Eguavoen has issued a strong warning to Comoros ahead of Nigeria’s Olympic qualifying encounter, insisting that his team is prepared to defend home advantage and take a positive step towards the next round.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference in Ikenne, Eguavoen expressed confidence in the Super Falcons’ preparation, squad quality and collective determination as Nigeria prepares to begin its quest for qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games, Sports247 reports.

“Nobody comes to this country and survives!” Eguavoen declared, underlining his determination to see the Nigerian side deliver a strong performance against their visitors.

The interim coach also highlighted the prestige associated with leading the country’s senior women’s national team, stressing that the Super Falcons’ history and achievements command respect.

“Anybody who is called to handle the Super Falcons should be proud because of the team’s pedigree in Africa and the world,” he said.

Eguavoen believes the players understand the importance of the fixture and are ready to represent the country with commitment.

“The players are aware of what is at stake and they will surely make the country proud,” he added.

He further emphasised the unity within the squad, describing the team as a group working towards one objective.

“We are one, chasing the same goal, and we are well prepared for any challenge,” Eguavoen stated.

Eguavoen Targets Winning Start

The coach acknowledged the importance of beginning the qualification campaign with a victory, noting that every result will matter as Nigeria seeks to progress through the qualifying rounds.

“It is important we start well with a win. Truly, the qualification is tighter than the World Cup qualifier, but we will take it one step at a time,” he said.

Eguavoen also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s attacking options, insisting that the team has enough firepower to deal with the threat posed by Comoros.

“I think we have enough strikers in the team that can handle Comoros’ threat. We respect every team, but I would say it is a privilege to be in charge, and I would use my experience,” he explained.

While expressing respect for the opposition, the coach maintained that Nigeria would remain committed to its tactical plan.

“No team should come here and survive. The team has a game plan, and we will stick to it. Collectively, we will overcome our opponents,” he declared.

Super Falcons Ready for Olympic Qualifying Challenge

The Super Falcons are set to face Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, with a place in the next round of the Olympic qualification series at stake.

For Nigeria, the immediate objective is to make home advantage count and establish a positive foundation before the return fixture.

With Eguavoen stressing preparation, unity and tactical discipline, the Super Falcons will now look to translate their coach’s confidence into a strong performance on the pitch.
