Inter Lagos FC’s rave of the moment, Qoyum Akinpelu went way back in time to remember his days with Ilaje FC of Ibadan, after emerging man of the match in Wednesday’s first fixture at the Nigerian National League (NNL) Super-4 in Ikenne.
Akinpelu, who took the MOTM bag after scoring the first goal and won a penalty that brought the second in his side’s 2-0 victory over Ranchers Bees of Kaduna, told Sports247 that he was super-excited.
He immediately became the lad to dot, such that several fans flocked around him after the final whistle and he ended up as his team’s last player to leave the pitch.
He declared amidst hugs from fans, “I’m so happy that we won and I scored the first goal. It’s a wonderful change from what we had in our first match.
“The first match was not good, so spoke to ourselves and promised to correct our mistakes. Our coach also spoke to us and we had a better game this time out.
“As for me winning the man of the match, it’s not something I earned all by myself. I dedicate it to my family, my teammates and everyone that supports me,” said the smooth-talking lad.
Akinpelu also admitted that it is a wondered experience for him, considering that he is now playing at a very high level in the country, compared to how he started in a lowly way at Ilaje FC of Ibadan.
