Nigerian Universities Get Intercollegiate Basketball Tourney

Nigerian universities are bound to busy in the last quarter of the year, as a new basketball competition among undergraduates in the Ivy Tower has been launched.

 

 

Sports247.ng learnt that the competition, under the tag Intercollegiate Basketball Championship (IBC), is tentatively billed to hold between late August and early October.

 

Organizers explained that the calendar has been so designed not to interfere with the academic sessions of most Nigerian universities, of which 32 and expected to compete in 71 games.

 

Vision Sports Management & Entertainment Company explained further that IBC is in furtherance of their successful organisation of the maiden Higher Institutions Football League (HiFL) last year.

 

The company expatiated that the basketball version will involve federal, state and private universities, in a healthy competition that will accord Nigerian students several benefits.

Vision Sports stated: “We at Intercollegiate Basketball Championship have taken up the duty of bringing talented Nigerian athletes out to the spot light, making Nigerian student athletes an item of fame to the nation and beyond giving them the recognition they deserve.”
