Nigerian Army Clebrate Rivers Kickboxing Conquest

Nigerian Army contingent are still celebrating their top spot placement at the maiden Rivers State National Open Kickboxing Championship, which took place inside Alfred Diete Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt.

 

 

‘The Army men’ emerged tops with nine gold, eight silver and five bronze medals ahead of second-place Nigerian Police, who pooled five gold, one silver and four bronze.

Delta State won four gold, two silver and two bronze to finish third, but first among nine states that took part in the event.

President of Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria, Abubakar Yakubu, a Chief Superintendent of Police, commended all states and clubs that took part in the week-long championship.

The KBFN president assured that the federation will continue to pursue its development agenda, to take Nigerian Kickboxing to the zenith.

The competition, which was sponsored by PLANT-GERIA Nigeria Ltd in conjunction with the Rivers State Government, was packaged by KBFN and Nigeria Karate federation.

Yakubu also gave awards to some personalities after the competition, which was staged in honour of late kickboxing and Karate expert, Sensei Victor Bassey, with nine states and seven clubs featuring.
