Charity Opara Urges AFN To Rebuild With Sports Festival

Former international track and field star, Charity Opara has urged the Athletic Federation of Nigeria (AFN) to take advantage of the National Sports Festival in Abuja to rebuild its arsenal of talents.

Speaking ahead of Thursday’s opening ceremony at Abuja 2018, Opara said in a chat with sports247.ng that the AFN should use the festival to launch itself back to reckoning in the continent.
She reckoned that the AFN would be able to set fresh hope and solid marks for the future by hunting for good athletes at the sports festival.
Opara lamented: “As we are now, Nigeria has lost its place in African and world stage athletics, simply because we have failed to  produce young and new good athletes over the years.
“I am happy with the return of the National Sports Festival, after an absence of six years, because this is is an avenue from where we can spot future talents.”
