Nigeria Police Partners The Nigeria National League For A Violent Free Football League

Police Campaign against cultism and other related vices POCACOV,an initiative of the Inspector General of Police ,IGP Mohammed Abubakar Adamu aimed at sensitizing the youth against cultism,associated violence and other vices in the society,is partnering with the Board of the Most Important Football League in the country ,the Nigeria National League(NNL),for a violent free Football season across the Federation.

Campaign National coordinator and Police spokesman in Enugu State, South-East Nigeria, Superintendent of Police, SP Ebere Amaraizu, hinted that the initiative launched in August this year, in the Coal City, is part of the programmes of the IGP in partnership with the Nigeria Policing Programmes (NPP).

According to SP Amaraizu, POCACOV is geared towards saving the youths from their claws, making them better in contributing their quota positively in Nations building and growth.

He said the Nigeria Police is using the platform offered in the ongoing Enugu 2019,Nigeria National League Super four(4) Tournament at the Cathedral- Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, to further drive its point home by reaching out to the teeming youth and soccer faithful, majority who are involved in the NNL organized Football event.

“The NNL Tournament is a veritable space we are flying in furtherance of the POCACOV idea against cultism, drugs and abuse of it, associated violence and other vices“ SP Amaraizu said the need for participants and stakeholders industry to conduct themselves properly at every match will also ensure a violent free atmosphere at the various stadiums during every game.

He thanked the leadership of the Nigeria National League under Sir, Chidi Ofor for supporting POCACOV

In the meantime, boss of the Nigeria National League, sir, Chidi Ofor Okenwa, has applauded the enterprise of the Nigeria Police force under IGP Mohamed Abubakar Adamu in partnering his League board.

Sir, Okenwa who is also a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation and chairman Enugu State Football Associated described the development as a worthy move that will greatly help in curbing crimes and violence at match venues.

“We have noted the importance of POCACOV, to the youth football programme of our League and society at large, we are happy and we will strongly make it work”

“The World Football body, FIFA and our African governing body, CAF preaches against drug , violence and other vices, POCACOV is in tandem with such tenets, we welcome it, Okenwa concluded.

Adamawa United and Akwa Starlets will face off at the Cathedral,on Sunday 15 September 2019 to see who will be crowned Champions of NNL or the 2018/2019 season.
