Nigeria Football: We need a framework – Pastor Taribo West

Former Super Eagles defensive stalwart, Pastor Taribo West has stated that without adequate and deliberate attempt by the football federation to create a framework to manage emerging footballers, it will be tough to get players mature and operate at the peak of their game.

West speaking in a chat with sports247.ng said the administrative part of the game is the aspect that needs to be worked on in order to ensure adequate development of players.

“Without adequate and deliberate attempt by the football federation to create a framework to manage emerging footballers, it will be tough to get players mature and operate at the peak of their game.”

“Our major bane in this country is lack of technocrats to steer the ship forward and make appreciable impacts for the development of the game,” the former AJ Auxerre, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Kaiserslautern defender enthused to Sports247.ng.

“If we continue to work on half baked concepts, the standard will continue to fall and that will affect the development of the game.”

“Development is key in the game of soccer. When the head is rotten, the output won’t be good enough. This sums up the way the game is administered in Nigeria.”
