Nigeria Faces Elimination From WAFU B Tournament

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria are facing elimination from the WAFU B tournament after losing 1-0 to Ghana yesterday in their second group game in Port Novo.

Nigeria who were held 1-1 by Cote d’Ivoire in their opening group game of the tournament were defeated 1-0 on Wednesday by their West African rivals, Ghana.

Ladan Bosso’s led boys needed a victory to enhance their chances of playing in the Semifinals of the competition but were stunned by a superb Free-kick from Precious Boah to condemn the flying Eagles to defeat.

The Nigerian Side who were better than their bitter rivals for most of the encounter, but due to their failure to take their chances is now on the brink of elimination from the competition, as qualification destiny are no more in their hands.

With that defeat to Ghana, the Flying Eagles now await the result between Ghana and Cote d’Ivoire to know their stance in the tournament.

Nigeria can only qualify if Ivory Coast loses to Ghana because a draw or a win for Ivory Coast against Ghana will signify the flying Eagles exit from the competition.
