The acting general secretary of Nigeria Football (NFF), Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme has revealed the basic factors that brought back to the country the continental governing body’s A-License Coaching Course after an absence of nine years.
Ikpeme made the disclosure while speaking during a well-attended ceremony in Abuja to officially mark the return to Nigeria of the A-License Coaching Course organised by Confederation of African Football (CAF).
While describing the course’s return as a significant milestone in the development of coaching education in Nigeria, Ikpeme thanked everyone who put in extra work backed with determination, diligence, resilience and commitment to make it possible.
Ikpeme also expressed profound appreciation to CAF for agreeing to revive the elite coaching programme in Nigeria, then charged all the 25 participants to make the best of it now and afterwards.
He asserted, “I want to, on behalf of the NFF, appreciate CAF for returning Nigeria to the A-License Convention. At a point, it became somewhat embarrassing that this elite coaching course took so long to return to our country.
“Permit me to also appreciate the NFF technical director, Coach Augustine Eguavoen and his staff for their hard work, diligence, relentless push and creative resilience that convinced CAF to restore our country to the A-License Convention.”
Sports247 reports further that Ikpeme also urged the participating coaches to be attentive, in order to learn new technical ideas, broaden their views, pick modern strategies and adopt innovative tactical moves.
