The former president of Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Honourable Daniel Igali has heaped praises on Morocco for putting in place remarkable infrastructure and facilities for sports, which he described as a pride for all of Africa.
Sports247 reports that Igali, who was an Olympic Games gold medalist for Canada in wrestling, made the declaration during his official mission in Rabat, Morocco, as a member of the United World Wrestling (UWW) inspection team.
The delegation flew into Rabat to check facilities in Morocco’s bid to host the 2029 African Cadet, Junior and Senior Wrestling Championships, heading into which Igali said he is happy to see how the Arab nation is showing a good example for all countries across the continent.
While urging African nations to continue investing in facilities, Igali, who is the currrent commissioner for sports in Bayelsa State and vice-president of Commonwealth Wrestling Committee, added that he is equally excited seeing that the sport continues to grow across the continent.
“In Casablanca, Morocco, in my capacity as a United World Wrestling Bureau Member, for an inspection of facilities as Morocco bids to host the 2029 African Cadet, Junior and Senior Wrestling Championships.
“I am joined on the inspection by UWW Senior Competition Manager, Ramil Ahmadov. It is always encouraging to see African nations investing in our sport and positioning themselves to host major international competitions.
“Morocco has a proud sporting tradition, and we look forward to a productive inspection and fruitful discussions with our Moroccan wrestling family,” Igali eulogised glowingly via a post on social media.
