The new executive committee of Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF) has received a strong directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that they ‘create more opportunities for young talents’ in the sport.
Sports247 gathered that this directive was provided in a message of congratulation that President Tinubu sent to the NBBF’s new president, Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, who is a former baaketball player and current director-general of Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN).
The congratulatory message, which was signed by Tinubu’s special adviser on information and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, described Abdullahi’s election as an opportunity for him to add his own quota in the enhanced development of basketball in Nigeria.
He also urged the new NBBF president to use his zeal, experience, leadership skills and commitment to strengthen the NBBF, improve organisation and administration of the sport as well as create opportunities for young Nigerian basketball talents to excel at international levels.
Sports247 gathered further that Tinubu also called on all basketball followers, stakeholders, players, coaches, sponsors, administrators and supporters to work with the new board, in order to collectively build a stronger and professionally run federation.
