MIGHTY JETS VS PLATEAU UNITED,WILL BE TOUGH,BUT THE MOST PEACEFUL EVER- Victor Lapang

As defending Champions,Plateau United and last year’s finalists, Mighty Jets fc battle themselves out in the finals of the Plateau State FA Cup today,the Commissioner of Youths and Sports in the State,Victor Lapang,has called on the people of the state to come and watch one of the oldest local derbies of club football still existing in Nigeria, devoid of bitterness but pure beautiful and entertaining football, sports247.ng reports
Victor Lapang,who is always on ground to witness any sports competition in the state even to the grassroots level,was on ground to watch Mighty Jets fc beat non league side, Jazzy Stars FA and Plateau United overcoming Jets Feeders in the semifinals, believes that soccer fans will be treated to the best of soccer extravaganza and most importantly,the government of the day headed by Simon Bako Lalong, who will be live for the final,has united the two clubs that used to see themselves as enemies in the past with the father figure and the financial backing made available for both clubs by the governor,hence,he’s calling on all and sundry to come witness a good match with their friends and families.
Pius Henwan, General Manager,Plateau United fc,said “Though it will be difficult to make it three consecutive wins in a row in the finals of the State FA cup over Jets in the form they are in this season,but my technical crew and my boys have made up their minds to win the trophy for keep.”
Henwan believes that its not a do or die affair,as Plateau United priority is to make a statement at the national level,bringing back the trophy it last won in 1999.
On his own part, according to Sammy Adesoji, the Chairman of Mighty Jets fc, Alex Wukari, says their sister club’s dominance over them for the past two finals will not repeat itself again today as his boys are roaring to go.
Wukari said “I must first and foremost appreciate the governor for making the unrest between both clubs a thing of the past,but that hunger for success is somehow increased by the support given by the governor,which we believe success will spur him to do more, with this t the back of our minds, a very competitive and interesting match should be expected today.”
Plateau United fc had emerged champions over Mighty Jets fc in the last two finals,beating them 1-0 in each occasion.
Going into the final today:
– Plateau United have the best defense, they are yet to concede a goal and have netted 7 goals.
– Mighty Jets have the sharpest attack, scored 10 goals and conceded only one.
– Plateau Starlets’ Danbaba Shanji and Jazzy Stars football Academy Emmanuel Kella lead the goals scorers’ chart with 3 goals each, while the quintet of Plateau United’s duo: Saidu Salish and Sikiru Olatunbosun; Mighty Jets duo of Manji Musa and Sunday Alasco, and Jazzy Stars FA’s Friday Jelmack Peters are all second in the scorers sheet with two goals each.
The match, tagged “Plassico season2 2019” will be played today,27th April, at the Jos New Stadium, Zaria road, Jos by 4pm.
