Coordinator of the maiden Nathaniel Idowu Summer Camp, McAnthony Anaelechukwu, has expressed satisfaction with the huge impact that the project is having on several children who are attending the month-long programme at New Maracana Stadium, Olodi Apappa, Lagos.
Sports247 reports that, as daily activities continue at the posh arena in the area popularly known as ‘Ajegunle,’ Anaelechukwu disclosed that all the participants are excited with the training sessions they are going through in football and basketball, as well as classroom sessions in leadership skills.
Anaelechukwu added that the inaugural Nathaniel Idowu Summer Camp has laid a solid foundation for mentorship, friendship and sporting excellence, with 321 registered campers, qualified coaches, modern sports equipment, medical support and free daily meals all available.
In addition to the free camp jerseys, all participants received complete sports kits, footballs, boots, shin guards, socks and goalkeeper gloves donated by Gear ’em Up, a United States-based organisation, which is known for ensuring that young athletes have access to quality sporting equipment.

naelechukwu, who is also the director-general of Peakline Sports World Limited, official organisers of the camp, emphasised that the initiative extends beyond athlete development, with 20 certified coaches, expert medical personnel and diligent kitchen staff overseeing training, welfare and nutrition needs respectively.
He reserved special appreciation for Chief Yemi Idowu, whose vision and generosity have made the summer camp a reality, as he is singlehandedly sponsoring the entire programme that provides hundreds of children with free access to professional coaching, sports facilities, training kits and medical support.
While assuring that all the children will continue to get daily meals throughout the four-week camp, Anaelechukwu added that the founder of Nathaniel Idowu Foundation keeps showing unwavering commitment to youth development and progress of grassroots sports, while creating opportunities for young people.
The coordinator added, “This camp is about more than sports. It is about identifying young talents early, developing character, instilling discipline and giving children a safe environment where they can dream, learn, and grow.
“Apart from empowering them to discover their talents, build confidence, develop discipline and acquire values required for success in life, the camp also provides hundreds of young participants a foundation on the journey towards social relevance.
“They also have opportunities of building confidence, becoming tomorrow’s heroic athletes and learning how to be leaders. We are committed to helping them discover their full potential both on and off the field.”
