The proposed Late Prince Anthony Obaseki National U-23 Memorial Cup billed for October 26th-30th 2022 has been brought forward to October 1st-8th in Ughelli, Delta State.

The Tournament Coordinator, Mr Onome James told Journalists in Ughelli that the postponement was necessitated by the need to accommodate all invited teams as he commended Sports Writers Association of Nigeria Delta and Edo state Chapters for donating jerseys for the finalists.

“There are a lot of grassroot football tournaments at this time of the year, so we had to look for a date convenient for all our invited teams. This necessitated the change of date”

“I want to specially commend the Delta and Edo State Chapters of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for their support and contribution to the success of this year’s tournament. With their donation of sets of jersey now, we can be rest assured of a very colourful final.” Onome James stated.

The competition is designed in memory of the veteran sports Journalist Late Prince Anthony Obaseki for his contribution to the development of grassroot football in Nigeria. You will recall before his demise in 2020, he was the Media officer of Ughelli Preseason Cup and also had served as media officer to a number of NPFL sides.
