Lagos Women Run 2019: I ran 29minutes, Winner ran 28 minutes – Mrs Sanwo- Olu

The Lagos women run 4th edition 2019, ended on a high note as it produces ecstatic feeling among the athletes, participants and organizers inclusive. Notably was the closing remark of the event given by Dr. Mrs Sanwo-Olu. She thanked the organizers, the sponsors inclusive, congratulated the winners and encouraged participants across each states.

The only 10km road race  for women and indeed in Africa was a story of love at first sight as soon as she discovered that the event is strictly to fight a cause for women.

Mrs Sanwo- Olu decided to participate in the run alongside the wife of the Deputy Governor of the State, Mrs Oluremi Hamzat urging women for mass participation as it focuses solely on ‘’Running for Wellness and Fitness’.

‘’This is a beautiful idea in other to get the women involved, it’s a very good innovation and I hope we do get more turnouts in the next forthcoming edition’’.

‘’Although, this race is meant for women, I could see some men around, it shows how this event for the women folk can draw attention, am glad’’.

After giving accolades to the facilitators of the event led by Mrs Tayo Popoola, she also challenged the organizers to get their hands on the deck for the next edition in 2020. ‘The goal is always to do better and that’s our aim in the forthcoming 5th edition.

The General Coordinator of the run, Tayo Popoola lauded Mrs Sanwo –Olu’s magnanimity in accepting to give her full support to the run and also participate despite the short awareness.

The 10KM road race whose flag off point was at Tafawa Balewa Square and ended at the Teslim Balogun Stadium recorded a high number of entries of over 13,000.
