Lagos Women Run 2019: My dream is to win the Olympics Gold, says Cheptoeck Careen

Cheptoeck Careen, Kenya won this year’s edition of the Lagos State women run after her record breaking 28 minutes race finish. Having previously finished 13th in the Okpeke race and 2nd at Abeokuta a week earlier with a cash prize of 2million Naira.

The 26 year old Kenyan born athlete couldn’t contain her joy after she came first in the competition that paraded athletes across different States added another 750,000 Naira cash prize to her purse.

In an exclusive interview with Sports247.ng, Careen revealed how difficult it has being for her in Kenya and how she has always wished for beautiful moments like this.

‘’I feel good about this moment, am so happy I finally made it here, the state of things in Nigeria is entirely different from Kenya, I have put so much in this race and am glad to be declared as the winner’’.

‘’This isn’t the end for me, from here, I will be going to Malaysia to participate in an International competition and I hope to have this same feat there’’, she added

‘’In some years to come, my goal is to win the Olympics medal, I know how tough it can be but am looking forward to that day’’, she revealed.
