The former Nigeria international believes the squad possesses the quality, experience and mentality required to meet the expectations of representing Africa’s most successful women’s national team.

Nigeria heads into the tournament in Morocco as the defending champions, having reclaimed the title at the last edition to extend its record as the most successful nation in WAFCON history.

“The coach has done a very good job with his selections. I believe the best players have been chosen to represent Nigeria at the tournament,” Mbachu said.

The former Super Falcons star noted that the players invited understand the responsibility that comes with wearing the national colours and are fully aware of the expectations of millions of Nigerians.

Mbachu also expressed confidence in the depth of the squad, insisting every player has the ability to make a meaningful contribution whenever called upon during the competition.

“Anyone who is invited to the Super Falcons knows what it means to represent Nigeria. I believe every player in the squad will give everything for the country whenever they get the opportunity to play,” she added.

Mbachu, who represented Nigeria at multiple Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup, said continuity and experience remain major strengths for the current squad as they prepare for another continental challenge.

The Super Falcons are continuing their preparations ahead of the tournament in Morocco, where they will be aiming to retain their WAFCON title and secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
